EMDR Therapy

Has anyone here had EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) therapy?? What was your experience? I’m currently training for it with mindfulness.

I’ve had EMDR done by an NLP therapist about 5 years ago and it was very effective. However, for the past 3 years I’ve been doing self-administered emdr alone using this YouTube video and have done about 700 hours of eye movements so far (a few hours per day). Over that time my olanzapine dose has been reduced from 25mg per day to 1.25mg per day (one point two five mg), which is an extremely low dose, and that’s the only AP that I’m on.

Wow thank you so much!!! You’ve really boosted my confidence about doing it! It sounds like it’s given you great results!

I would like to hear if you get any results!!

I have been sort of doing EMDR for years without knowing it. Every time something traumatic happened, I just knew I’d feel better if I played Tetris and talked it out. I didn’t find out until much later that it’s actually an official therapy. It has helped me a lot.

did you start the EMDR therapy?

I will find a clinique tomorrow and start too.

Thank you for posting. I’ve heard of this, but was scared. I get nervous about therapy. It’s not as bad as I thought, though.

Did it for about 5 minutes. It is kind of hypnotic.

How often do i have to do this to feel better?

No not yet! I’m turning 18 soon so I’m moving onto a different psychologist so putting it on hold for now

I generally do about an hour a day of emdr. I just pick an emotional topic that bothers me and ponder it while doing the eye movements and the eye movements seem to help me process the emotion.

When I began doing EMDR 3 years ago I started to get really really vivid dreams on the days that I did it and I knew then that it works. I’ve done roughly 700 hours of eye movements in total so far and have been able to reduce my meds dose by 90% since I started.
