Egosyntonic and Egodystonic

Can someone please explain to me the difference between the two, in your own words, and give me examples? Both my psychiatrist and counselor use these words, but I’m not understanding.

I can look them up on the internet, but thank you. I’m really looking for someone to explain them to me in their own words.
