For the last two months or more, my depot nurses have been arranging for nursing students from different colleges all over my city to come to my VA psychiatric shot clinic and use me as a guinea pig so they can learn how to administer depot injections. I don’t know if I like this but I’m going along with it. I might as well be of some use.
I just went to the free dental clinic here. At the clinic, I had workers who didn’t know their job tend to me. I chose not to correct them because it seemed they did not want my input. It was Okay.
I correct these nursing students and even the licensed RN’s all the time. Even every time. And they always listen to me because they know I have a nursing background. For example, when giving me my depot, I always tell them exactly where to insert the needle.
I once went to the hospital to have blood taken for tests. And the nurse was very talkative and I suspected she might be nervous so I said “I hope you know what you’re doing”. To which she replied by frowning and she stopped talking. The procedure went ok but I felt guilty after that, maybe she was simply being friendly?
When the tech put on the blood pressure cuff, I told her it was not on right. She was not interested in my input. From there, she tried six times on that arm without getting a reading she wanted, So she switched to the otherer arm, and she put the cuff on my forearm.
I had a scan the other day and a student dr was in the room. It was actually advantageous in a way because the dr was very thorough and explanatory to the young man. Thankfully the scan went well and its nothing sinister, just achillies tendonitis.
