ECHR orders Portugal to pay €34,000 for its improper treatment of a schizophrenic

As a portuguese person who a year ago was admitted in the psych ward from a hospital, I think it doesn’t reflect most of the cases.

With that said, and having spent almost 2 months in the hospital, I think our treatment measures are very similar to most of the developed countries, maybe the worst thing that happen to me was being tight up to the bed without being able to go to the toilet by myself.

As far as my experience goes, and talking to others about it, I think I had a fairly reasonable treatment and it was quick for them to give me cigarettes, which only tells that they trusted me not to run away from that place. There were no security levels and everyone was med compliant
