Don't be a mental perfectionist

My mother, God rest her soul, could not tolerate anything irrational. So when my violin teacher, who was afraid of cats, had to stop by my house to drop of some music, she asked me to make sure our cats were shut in the garage away from her. I said “Sure.” and told my mother about it. My mother said “That’s ridiculous, you don’t have to do that.” So I didn’t shut the cats away and, sure enough, when my teacher was there, around the corner strolls my big old tomcat. My teacher freaked out. I never forgot it. Just because someone’s feeling don’t make immediate sense does not mean they are not valid.
