I take abilify at 10pm. I seem to get what feels like an ‘uneven’ delivery throughout the next day.
I divide my Risperdal dose during the day and evening - taking it 3 times a day.
Taking it in divided doses makes it more even so it seems
@everhopeful you can ask your pdoc if you can take Abilify in 2 divided doses - one dose in the AM and another before bedtime - it could even things out for you more
I take all my meds in the morning because it always forces me to eat breakfast.
Noon is my best time of the day.
They suggested that already for anxiety. I might end up giving it a go to see if it takes care of both problems.
I find my Haldol works best if I take 5 mg twice a day, than a single 10 mg dose once a day.
This is what I sort of do and by mid afternoon I’m a bit more prone to panic and other little glitches… until I take my Seroquel and then pass out.
This sounds like what I should do… I’d most likely have an easier time of it.
I take my zyprexa at night. It knocks me out. In the morning I’m slow. About 4 PM the zyprexa’s worn off enough to want to do some things. Till bedtime + it’s all over again.
that shouldn’t happen. abilify has a very long half-life. provided you don’t miss doses, you should have a constant level of symptom coverage. could it be due to another drug or stress?
that must be hell. i remember taking Geodon twice a day - - - when it first came out, it wasn’t known it could be taken once a day. i hated waking up and havnig about an hour and a half before getting paranoid then konking myself out for eight hours, coming out of it some, and doing it again. risperdal generally is only taken three times a day at doses over 4mg. you might consider lowering the risperdal and adding a second antipsychotic since it shows decreased gains in efficacy after 4mg. just a thought. i’m not a doctor. besides, i hear two antipsychotics is out of vogue these days. if one doesn’t work, it’s straight to clozaril. doesn’t make sense to me, but again, not a doctor.
Well, yeah, that’s what my doc said, once a day is good for my meds, plus who the hell can remember and be on top of taking meds 3X a day??? I can barely remember to eat 3 times a day.
Interesting, because arapiprasole has a very long half life (+/- 75 hours) in most people. Are you drinking caffeine, smoking, ingesting other psychoactive chemicals and/or medications during the day? How’s your blood sugar?
I don’t notice anything happening upon taking my AP (aripiprazole).
I take my Orap in the morning, and by the time 4 pm comes around I get a touch of tinnitus. Also I tend to have really slow mornings and more energy in the afternoons, which didn’t used to be the case before my episode… I remember when I was working years ago 10.30 am until about 13.00 was my best time, with an afternoon dip.
Maybe that’s the problem. I’ve only been taking 7.5mg for 10 days and it takes 14 days to reach a steady state in your system. OK, I might wait another few weeks before taking it in multiple doses during the day. Thanks.
I take divided doses of Risperdal in smaller amounts, because I am just way too sensitive to psych meds, especially Antipsychotics.
If I take 2.5 mg of Risperdal in one shot - I will get zoned out and feel like a zombie all day - dividing the doses is easier on my system, I do realize that its not the norm, but it works for me.
I used to divide the doses of Abilify, when I was on that medication, for the same reason
Only taking coffee, 1 cup in the morning, blood sugar is now actually fine even though I had a scare recently (long story short seroquel messed with it). I’ll wait a few weeks and see how it goes.
I take my saphris at night because it’s so sedating but wake up clear headed in the morning. Usually by 5 or 6pm I’m struggling, sun downing you could almost say.
My meds feel uneven, i take latuda 160mg in the evening and haldol 10mgs at night. They work better then the invega i was even when i was taking two doses a day.
My medications wear off about 3pm even though I take one of them at 1pm… I sometimes get moving very fast about 7pm. I take Latuda and Seroquel at bedtime, Trileptal during the day.
