I heard the caffine consumption contributes to osteoporosis, especially to women after menopause. I drink both coffee and tea everyday and I am experiencing menopause recently. Do I need to take some more Calsium other than 500mg everyday?
I have heard coffee drinking makes you lose calcium too.
Do you mean you take a 500mg pill?
Yes , I take a 500mg calsium pill daily. But I’m not sure if this dose is enough.
Yes if drink coffee and tea with meals it can cause problem absorbing vitamins and minerals from it. This lead to low calcium, iron and several others. To avoid this problem time your coffee and tea time. Have at least a 2 hr gap in between meals. For example if you have breakfast at 9 AM then have coffee only after 11 AM and also if took coffee or tea at 11 AM then have lunch only after 1 PM.
Concerning osteoporosis. Make sure your vitamin D is in optimal ranges as even if you take calcium supplements and foods it will not get absorbed if vitamin D is not optimal.
Taking supplements containing calcium only not enough as it may cause arterial calcification which do more harm than good. I suggest doctors best brand bone maker complex it contain all ingredients in right amounts to safely increase calcium levels.
What is Doctor’s Best Calcium Bone Maker?
Doctor’s Best Calcium Bone Maker Complex promotes skeletal, muscular and overall health.* The Calcium Bone Maker Complex includes a spectrum of nutrients to promote healthy bone maintenance.* It includes calcium with vitamin D to effectively keep bones strong , as well as bioactive vitamin K2 (as MK-7) to assist bone calcium management. Anyway correcting vitamin D is very important and if that’s in low range then need to take mega dose of vitamin D pills to correct it quickly.
I was told by my pdoc that my high prolactin, coffee and cigarettes can cause this
wow, what an abundant load of information you’ve given about the link between caffine and osteoporosis. Thank you very much.
I’ve read journals saying too high calcium pills are associated with heart disease. So that might be good enough. Best to ask a dietician at GP though. But I personally think its Defo gd enough or try to add fortified milk aswell like Almond milk maybe…
This is a bit scary. I will be cautious about the dose of calcium. Thanks a lot for your advice.
