Does the medicine change your personality?

I heard people who had just been diagnosed say they don’t want to take psychiatric drugs because they chang your personality. Like in the book the OZMA OF OZ the little girl takes off her head and replaces it with another head. What has been your experience?

Yes, it does. I get pretty crazy when I go off my med’s. I’m lucky I got through that as unscathed as I did.

It has certainly changed me. I was very angry, agitated, restless and unable to settle. It was awful. Im happy to take medication not to experience that again. I wasnt a very nice person without them.

Off meds I was very angry and hostile. On meds I am nicer.

The Concept: Meds made me do it.
Topic was related to it. In a positive sense.

I am a completely different person with meds. I’m terrible off meds.

Me too. I’m better person on meds. Off meds I’m aggressive and messed up.

That terribly person I became when I was lowered with 300 mg I don’t want to become again. The meds has really earned my respect. So now I have to wait one month to become fully antipsychotic.

I am more myself on medication than I am off medication I think.

Dealing with positives I didn’t feel like myself but was just trying to endure the agony.

As a child off medication I didn’t feel like myself.

Maybe I found myself at a old age.

I was feeling awful before n like sickness n symptoms n not who I am or my own spirit n soul being.

I’m still me on meds. Off meds I’m me with poor impulse control. People like me better when my filters are working.

Nah, they didn’t change my personality. Just eliminated my hallucinations and delusions.
