With Beefheart’s music, once, my head was
getting bigger and smaller
Music is both good and bad.
Good for distraction from voices.
Bad for ideas of reference.
I used to have a big problem with rock and roll. It got into my subconscious mind and it was painful. I would go to the hospital and my mind would clear and I’d come home and do it again.
Today I listen to less rock and roll.

I have no problems with music making positive symptoms worse. It can actually make them better by lowering my stress level (cuppa, purring kitty, and some contemporary classical). It also helps me push back against negative symptoms by giving me an energy boost (pop/dance).

Rock and roll is always written to be about almost anything or anyone. I don’t think it’s about me anymore.
