Does coffee make you think clearly?

I think negative symptoms are related to medication and depression. I notice that negative symptoms improve when i drink coffee. I know a lot of people on here drink coffee from what I read when i was on my old profile.

Just started drinking coffee again, and it’s made a difference.

I have about 2 cups/daily-- I’m careful to not overdo it, since I can get antsy and paranoid with too much.

I drink a lot of coffee. But i can’t drink it without my medication. I can’t wake up in the morning and have a cup before medication.

Is it because of the coffee’s effects?

I think my meds help offset the jitteryness.

That’s cuz you get a short burst of dopamine that gives you energy. It’s the same with cigarettes.

I drank ten cups a day, for a while. Then I switched to caffeine pills. Coffee harmed my ability to do mathematics. One time I was studying for a test in algebra II at college. It looked like I was going to get a solid A for the semester. But the night before the test I drank a bunch of coffee, and I couldn’t focus. I bombed on the test and got a B for the semester. I had a roommate who was a chemical engineer major, and he was up until around 3:00 am studying every night. He said that coffee hurt his ability to concentrate, too. I think coffee might help creativity, but for basic learning I think you should steer clear of it.

I need my daily coffee intake, maximum 2 cups.

I need to cut down my intake, I’m up to 4 cups a day.

Me too. I really like the taste.

I get a large 3x3 decaf at Timmies.

Sounds good-- wish we had Tim Hortons to try. Dunkin’ Donuts is king around here.

Are you drinking caffeine at all, @Mr.Dre?

Coffee gives me a much-needed boost when I can stick to just a cup or two a day. When I go over that I get bad anxiety and insomnia.

Just a very small amount that’s in the decaf.

I’m sensitive to it, but I really like the taste hah.

It increases my mood, so I think it helps me in that way a bit.

I drink half a pot in the morning and then I make another half a pot in the evening around six pm…I stay up late so I need the boost at night…I take trazadone as a sleep aid or I couldn’t probably ever go to sleep however.

edit…to answer the question yes it helps me concentrate…

I drink black, unsweetened, decaf, brewed, coffee all day and evening long. It doesn’t make me think any clearer but, it keeps me sane.

Well, my bro use to say, “What goes up, must come down.” That’s how I view caffeine.

I want some Timmies right now but I dont have the car.

Bleh.

Yes coffee makes me think more clearly, caffeine is a stimulant so there you go. I drink 2 large mugs in the morning and every once in awhile a third mug full in the afternoon if I’m sleepy from waking up in the middle of the night like I usually do. Coffee is the bestest thing ever.

Yea, I used to tolerate coffee before my relapse. But now it just worsens my psychosis/paranoia. It increases dopamine and makes you motivated. Yes coffee helps with cognition as well. You will notice your thoughts have become faster. Its basically a mild stimulator.
