At work I just created a simple table from an impact assessment document that was very extensive
It summarised it really well
But I will still quality assure the information if I choose to use it
AI is not perfect but in this instance it saved me hours of reading through documents to find the specific info I wanted
My wife consults on implementing AI in K-12 environments in addition to being a high-school English teacher. The biggest problem is that students will try to do cognitive off-loading with AI and have it do their work for them. The fix is to design new curriculum that forces them to collaborate with AI for solutions and document what they did and how as they did the assignment.
Her assignments are heavily integrated with AI use in such a way that the kids have to actually use AI and then demonstrate to her their understanding of the course material (verbally) and also show how they worked with AI to complete their work. The motivated students love her. The less-so ask for a different teacher.
As a student, it’s only useful for me to see as a double checker. So once I’ve done a maths problem, I put it in and see if it’s a similar method, if it is, then i check if it’s the same answer. If it’s not I retrry the problem making sure i’ve used the method in the textbook.
This way it helps me stay on syllabus but also exercising solving the problem myself
