Does anyone work in a restaurant/food business?

I’ve worked at pizza places/restaurants my whole working career, but have not since getting sz. I was just curious if anyone here worked at a restaurant, and how you handle the fast-paced nature of it. I’m thinking of going back to work as a dishwasher

I used to work in a restaurant. I worked in both the front and back. I think if you just zone in on your dishwashing you might be ok. But for me, the racket and all the people would be too much

that’s what I’m afraid of – the racket and the people. During my last stint at a pizza shop, the hectic nature of it stressed me out and caused me to hallucinate. I only lasted a couple days. Hopefully, now that I’m somewhat stable, I can handle the hectic nature of working in a kitchen

You won’t know for sure unless you try.

yep, this is true

I like the idea of working at an elderly center In the cafeteria. I did that as a work evaluation and it was an awesome experience but they weren’t hiring.

Then I worked in a take out place in the dishwasher role. Man the guy was such a dick to me and everyone I had to quit After a week. And he knew I was disabled because I was working with ticket to work

aside from your dickish manager at the take out place, how was the experience? It wasn’t too fast-paced?

When i was much younger i worked in fast food a couple times. It was very fast-paced and demanding. I’m pretty sure i couldn’t handle it now.

yea I don’t think I could handle a fast food joint. I’m looking at nicer, sit down restaurants to work at

I had trouble remembering where everything would go was the worst part. It wasn’t too fast paced cuz you can only run 1 load at one time. Idk maybe I was going too slow I was doing it wrong.

I worked in the restaurant business for years but it was during my pre SZ period.

I worked in the kitchen at a fast food restaurant and it got super busy.

I also worked as a waiter and this was stressful as well.

I couldn’t imagine doing it now with a SZA dx.

I worked at Taco Bell before. It wasn’t too demanding. Fairly easy work. All I have to say is don’t order anything with beef in the mornings. Sometimes they use the same ground beef from the previous night. Maybe that was only at my location and it is possible things have changed since they have a breakfast menu now. This was before the onset of the illness. At the moment I don’t think I could work there comfortably.

thanks for the responses

I worked as a chef for many years. Several years while I lived in Banff I worked as a head day chef. I enjoyed working there. I worked as a waitress for a year and hated it. Overall restaurant work was good.

I have worked at cafes mainly.

I could actually get a rush in lunch rush and bring so busy.

I enjoyed it.

I could not always do it and I could not stand by the counter talking to customers and counting at the same time but I managed to do other things like basic cooking, food preparation, waitressing, cleaning ,serving n assisting, dishes etc

I worked at a cafe at a aged care home when I had work experience through my then activity centre.

I also worked at “normal job” cafe .

And other places
