Does anyone pay for their meds or do you get them for free at the hospital?

I’m on SSI so I get all my medication for free.

I am on Medicare and my disability card.
I think I pay $6 a fortnight for latuda when it has been subsidised .
Maybe it’s $12.

My menapause supplement that does not work costs about $44 a month .

I have other medication and supplements too.

I pay $5 every 3 months.

I pay $65 for my geodon, Ativan, and seroquel.

I use GoodRx

My husband pays for my meds
We have no insurance

Must be very expensive for those meds without insurance. @Hadeda

Yes it is. I’m very grateful to my husband! If it weren’t for him I’d have to go to a government day hospital for them and wait all day in a queue.

@disciple, what do you do when your total drug costs reach 3750 and you have to pay 40% of your meds? I can’t take Latuda because I’ll reach $3750 so fast in it and I can’t afford paying 40% of all my meds.

I’m sorry but i really don’t have an answer. My meds never cost that much on the plan i’m on. Are you on Medicare or what?

I’m on Medicare. All Medicare drug plans have a rule that when the total drug cost (what you pay + what they pay) you have to pay 40% of your drug costs until you reach another total drug cost and then your cost goes down again. I have a Medicare Advantage plan also but I can only take the cheapest drugs available due to that rule.

Oh ok, i didn’t know that. I have a Medicare Advantage plan also but my costs are never that high. I know different plans are available in different areas. The only thing i would know to do would be to try a different plan but i’m not sure if open enrollment is still going on. If not, you might have to wait until next time. Sorry i couldn’t be more help.

That’s ok @disciple. I’m glad for you that your plan has a deal for Latuda. That’s awesome!

I get Latuda free from the VA. If I have to buy it with my insurance it’s $24 for a 30 day supply. My most expensive med.
