Does anyone else find that their room depresses them?

Like, being in the room is just making you sicker and sicker?

I find going out always lifts my spirits, as if angels are releasing the pressure in my brain.

Yes. I do. I feel like I’m under house arrest.

My room is my little sanctuary from the world. It is where i go when the world gets to be too much.

Mine does because it is a mess.

I barely spend time in my room.
I mainly crash on the couch and eventually get to my room and sleep the rest of the night.

I rarely spend time there during the day.

Nope. My little sanctuary.

If you feel stuck in your room, get out, and enjoy some sun.

Until very recently my head hurt too much to go out, but I think I’ll do just that now.

I’m so used to being at home alone, I hate going anywhere

yeah it’s like a prison much of the time. mental anguish, boredom, paranoia. I feel too crazy or empty to talk to anyone out there. It’s gotten a little better the last few days though.

Every once in a while when I am sick, I find my room to be the last place I want to be in. But lately I love my room and like to lay down and relax. You can say I am a very sedentary person.

If you just sit out on your porch and get some sun and watch cars go by I bet it’ll still improve your mood. Especially if you got any grass or trees and birds going by.

Yeah, I prefer the living room. I really need to tidy up my bedroom.

Yes. I’m to myself too much. I am shy and my mental illness feeds on that. So, I don’t feel good and that gives me a reason not to go out. It’s a vicious circle.

I only sleep in my room.
During the winter I get SAD and I sleep all the time.
So, yeah my room becomes like a prison cell inside the house.
It’s very depressing and the isolation is very unhealthy.

My room is very important to me because I spend the majority of my time in there and I like my privacy. The only problem I see is that I spend way too much time isolated and my room can get dirty and smell.

It’s nice to have your own room because you don’t have to worry about people stealing stuff, going in there, making a mess, etc. I appreciate it.

But yes, it can make me depressed when I keep it dark, don’t open the windows, don’t open the blinds, keep the door locked, and when it smells and is very messy.

Your environment is very important to your health and well-being.

When it is clean and smells good, I love it!

I love my room, It has lots of ornaments and photos and really nice rainbow stripey sheets on the bed. Plus I have aircon!

It is super quiet at night and I like watching storms through the windows.

I should probably vacuum the carpet though, it is getting a little dirty.

I rarely stay in the house unless some reason compels me. I usually go to support groups or go cleaning or hiking or see friends or just walk around.

Sometimes it does for a little while when I first enter it, but I’ve got my computer, my tv, and my dvd player, so that helps me not get depressed. Sometimes I wonder if I might be more comfortable with the others at the residential care facility than I am in the apartments, but then I remember all the benefits I have at the apartments, and I’m glad to be here.
