Do you think hearing voices would exist if there were no languages?

its so weird that schizophrenia’s main symptom is hearing voices when voices are something that people created. im pretty sure the cavemen didnt start off speaking languages and also i dont even understand how they made one with so many words when every other animal has only a couple of sounds.

this is really weird to me like if someone had schizophrenia but they didnt know any words what would there voices consist of???

This is interesting. You’ve got me thinking

Do deaf people have auditory hallucinations?

No I doubt you would hear voices if there were no languages.

Maybe instead intrusive/racing/disturbing thoughts which is what I get (I don’t have voices.)

On the other hand, maybe a caveman would hear grunts? Just kidding.

If they weren’t deaf before, then yes. If you were born deaf you cannot think of sounds since you haven’t been able to hear. If you were able to hear before then you can still hear them, but they might fade overtime since you aren’t able to hear anymore.

Maybe their brains aren’t so developed to have such a complex dissease like is schizophrenia. Or maybe their “voices” was loud sounds that they had heard before like shriekings or animal’s sounds

Yes, you would hear noises.

Can you be blind and paranoid at the same time?

I think if there was no language you would here noises like grunting sounds and screaming and moaning.

My psychology professor told us that schizophrenic deaf people “hear” sign language being signed to them (just disembodied hands) instead of hearing voices – and that it counts as auditory hallucinations, not visual. I think that’s really cool.
