I’ve become the sous chef for my mother, pretty much ever since my grandma passed. My mom is an excellent cook, and does a great job. But she needs some help haha so I’ll do all the prepping that she doesn’t like to do. Doesn’t bother me any
I used to help my mom prepare the Thanksgiving meal when i lived with my parents. Now i live alone and just go to my clubhouse on the day before Thanksgiving for their meal. But I’m excited this year, as a couple from my church invited me to their house on actual Thanksgiving. I won’t be alone.
This year I’ll cook the entire meal for myself. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and yams. I’ll cheat and use instant stuffing and mashed potatoes. And I’ll open a can for the cranberry sauce and yams. Plus a frozen pumpkin pie.
My mom, my two sisters and I are all splitting the cooking and baking. My mom is baking the pumpkin and apple pies, my sister is cooking the turkey and gravy, my other sister is doing the potatoes and I am making the cranberry sauce and the green bean casserole.
I did things like anytime the turkey had to be moved I did that…like from the frig to the kitchen for prep, or putting it in the oven…I kind of bought too big of a turkey for us…but it fit in the roasting pan…shew…23 lbs. ha like i said, too big. but I peeled a bag of potatoes too…she did all the rest…she worked hard on the mashed potatoes and I opted for store bought gravy this year…so much easier.
