Noticed it when living alone. My brother stayed and my senses where shortened instead of extended to all around the house. Think it just protection thing not so much a illness thing. Being a mother you would be protective over your kids also.

I have excellent hearing, yeah.

its hard to tell, sometimes you just get unexplained noises, i would just ignore it lol

I wish I didn’t have extremely good hearing. I hear everything from the noise in a down-stair bedroom to the light vibrations of faraway radio music. really irritates my paranoid sz.

I think that it is part of the illness, there’s no filtering acoustics for us, let me see if I can find a link.

I hear dishes clattering in the back of a restaurant and can’t pay attention to my mother who is speaking directly to me…everything echoes and is abrasive. Crowded areas are hellish.

Here:

People with these psychological problems often report being hypersensitive to sounds and scenes. Their cognitive resources become distracted and aroused by seemingly mundane background noise and they have difficulty focusing on visual cues and performing relatively easy cognitive tasks as a result.

I have hypersensitive hearing when I’m not doing well. Everything sounds amplified to me.

It’s hard being at work, all the people typing on keyboards sounds like jackhammers to me.

I wouldn’t say my hearing is good. If there’s a lot of background noise especially, it tends to be iffy.
It’s not always easy to retain what I hear which is why I prefer things written down.

Phil has been wanting to listen to coast to coast overnight

I make him wear headphones

My hearing is extremely good. It honestly scares me. I always hear neighbors talking outside my door, or my Mom’s neighbors and kids yelling when I am outside smoking.

I have good hearing and my dad who has a booming voice, has bad hearing. He throws bricks at my ears, man. And I have constant throat weakness(quiet voice) so communicating with my parents is hard. But my hearing becomes very bad when I’m in a crowded room. I can’t focus it at all.
