This makes a lot of sense. I never really worried about psychics but I got caught up with ghosts and spirits for a while.
I looked up evidence and everything but then I found that Harry Houdini (the magician) went around debunking seances (you know getting in groups to talk to spirits). He went through and showed how each of the tricks was done. It really helped me get off that path and get grounded in reality.
