Do people really hear and see stuff?

I am constantly delusional but the meds help with hearing and seeing things. I have tried stopping the meds, that didn’t go so well. When you start having conversations with people who enter the room through a wall at least I am pretty sure it’s a hallucination. Those sorts of encounters can really freak you out, I wouldn’t recommend someone who is sz to come off meds without constant supervision in a psych ward. I would love to be med free, the side effects aren’t pleasant either but much better than active psychosis. With active psychosis I at least lose my ability to consciously remember what I have done or am doing, hours feel like minutes and that is scary for a paranoid person. So the meds are a necessary evil. Your brain can do some crazy things

Just wanted to say… thank you and well said.

I too would love to be med free someday… but I know that it’s a long long way off. I don’t tell people meds are the only way to go… just that they are the only way to go… for me.

I wonder why people have to try and harass me to stop my meds? I don’t harass them to start meds.

Yes, sz people hear and see things, I personally only have auditory (voices) hallucinations, but other sz people may also see things.

I REPEAT IT AGAIN

  1. DO NOT COME OFF MEDS AT ANY COST.

IF IT KEEPS YOU SANE THEN PLEASE TAKE IT.

I TOTALLY understand if the disease causes to harm yourself and others then MEDS is not only a necessity it is an ABSOLUTE.

  1. DO Not decide not to take any meds if you really feel like taking it !.

I just gave my perspective which you can consciously and safely ignore.

Yes, meds are very important to eliminate these voices and other things like that.

yes, I have on occasion throughout my life seen stuff and heard stuff…seen more than audibly heard though. I have also had the silent voice, kind of telepathic from entities into my mind, but not audibly…entire teachings have come in this way.

In my case it is not ongoing, daily, or a problem at all, so i would not call these events problems. They have been determined to be spirits or interdimensional phenomenon, even by 2 counselors I have spoken to about it, and especially when 2 or 3 people have seen the same thing appear…

I have never seen things, except in my dreams, my voices have gone away most part due to my meds, I do not know how it would be to have these visual hallucinations, some people have these.

I do have an interesting thing in the past, when my former US spouse had left in Dec 1999, some cops had actually brought her back to the house in Atlanta, but I was in another state of the mind and the only thing I remember about that was that I had said her that she must accept my Jewishness to return and then she had gone. Then later in March 2000 these cops told that they had brought her back, they probably meant this Dec 1999 event in Atlanta.

To be honest, I don’t hear anything. I do see things…but what actual hallucinations I get are mild and trippy. The other thing I deal with isn’t really hallucinations so much as visual distortions. Things become more threatening in appearance when I’m paranoid, for example, when I’m having a paranoia attack at night the backpacks/jackets in the closet will look like hanging people, and the chair out of the corner of my eye may now look like a demonic creature standing by the bed. But if I really focus on it and try to calm myself I can see them for what they are.

Also pareidolia…which is another thing I consider a visual distortion rather than a hallucination.

Interestingly enough, I read an article the other day saying that vivid visual hallucinations as such portrayed in popular media (Beautiful Mind, and other things) are supposed to be fairly rare in those w sz. Many do experience auditory, but few experience visual hallucinations of that nature.
