HI
Sorry - not a schizophrenia issue - but my sister has recently been getting coke from a hash dealer she found.
I think the timing adds up from her first talking about it soon after i noticed something.
She used a lot when she was in her teens and has never really gone all that long without drugs either
mum who she lives with has said 'she’s been in a really strange mood for 10 days, she’s very low etc
my sister has been having a breakdown for about 4 years and has been alcoholic for a long time and drug user.
this feels different but i don’t know if it helps my mum to know or not to know
I don’t think it would help, your mum has had a long life so I don’t think it would be fair to stress her out, she could have potential health issues! Sorry about your predicament x
i asked her a few months ago if she thought that she might like to hear slightly less of the worries, fears or events and should I hide things from her a bit.
We’ve been through this in our family. It sucks. But when your mom finds out that you didn’t tell her… idk, every parent is different. It’ll gnaw at you until you come to terms.
Have you checked out Naranon. This was very helpful.
I have started going to a local family group - not naranon, but a group in a well establishes drug and alcohol place where friends of mine have found help
he hit rock bottom, I think. Heart attack from some bad coke. 2 weeks in MICA. lost his job, house, $$. 2 DWI’s. Moved in with elderly parents and sat, did nothing for 2 years because he couldn’t drive to get a job.
Now he has a full time job as a manager, girlfriend, BMW with interlock device, still living with parents but saving up to move out.
Nobody talks about it, like nothing ever happened. I have suspicions sometimes that he’s drinking again. Which is a slippery slope.
I don’t know how much worse things can get but that does sound as bad for my sister.
she has been drinking heavily (2 bottles of wine a day long term even many years ago) and drugs and alcohol since age 11 or 12 (she was youngest)
Hard to believe that there is more for her to lose
There was just a very informative show on the National Geographic channel early a.m. on Saturday about the effects of cocaine on on the human brain and body.
