Discount Food store

I have started shopping at Aldi, and my weekly shopping bill has gone from about £40 a week to £20!

If you have a Lidl/Aldi or other discount food store, it’s well worth giving it a go.

I was worried about going to the store, but I found it ok. I used to get my shopping delivered, but now I am saving so much money it’s worth it.

I buy pretty much what I did before and it’s half the price.

Well worth the effort

That’s great that you’re saving so much money!

We have Aldis here in America too.

Their coffee and snacks are great!

It’s been a while since I shopped at Aldi. They have a limited selection, though they’re great for some things. I should give them another try sometime. My dad shopped at one a lot when I was a kid.

I’ve shopped several times at Lidl, but not at Aldi. That was in Essex. The quality of the products was very variable. Minus points-being stuck behind several people with full up trolleys, very small packing area .

Before I was dieting I used to wait for the prices of stuff like canned soup or chili or canned fruit or tuna or spaghettio’s or raviolis to come down to a dollar. It might only happen once every three weeks or once a month and then I’d buy few to stock up on. But the dollar stores near my apartment carry all those things. I discovered this months ago but ironically none of those are on my diet except the tuna.

Aldi has good prices, but they treat their employees like crap here.
Stuff like timing their bathroom visits and deducting it from their breaks and pay

Aldi delivers in america.

I used to work for Aldi. There’s no stock people, the cashiers do it all. That is why we had chairs at the checkout.

Did they time your bathroom breaks?

No. But i don’t know what they do outside of NY.

I have an Aldi’s about one mile from where I live (in the mid-Atlantic region of the USA). I went yesterday and found everything I wanted and the prices were about 20 or more % lower than other grocery stores. I may decide to go there more often. It’s nice to find a store I can believe in.

There’s a chain out here in Canada called Giant Tiger. Their stores all have a grocery section, but most of the food in there is the pre-made, processed crap that is poison. Their prices on fresh meat, veg, and fruit aren’t really any better than you can find at a standard Loblaws store and definitely higher than at Wholesale Club (Loblaws bulk outlet). The best deals at Giant Tiger are all on high sodium, high fat garbage. Would be nice to find a place that consistently sells affordable fresh veg and fruit.

I love Aldi (U.K.) Whats peoples cheapest favourite meals they can get? Suggestions?

Mine has to be (from Aldi)

8 chicken thighs - £1.80
2 -microwave rices £1.00 - many different rices flavours
(I think 500g) barbecues sauce bottle

I cook the 8 chicken thighs in oven for 30 minutes .I then save 4 chicken thighs for the next day.

Two lovely meals for for about £1.50 a pop and it is very satisfying. Take the chicken skin off for healthily chicken.

We have an Aldi store in my area but I’ve always been a bit leery about purchasing from them.
Don’t think they are high quality.
But I could be wrong.

They do deliver.

They do a fresh Tikka Chicken with chopped onions and peppers that you just throw in a pan. I don’t really cook, so it’s easy for me

I love :two_hearts: Aldi but it’s half a hour drive from me and I don’t feel I can get there by myself.

I don’t think they deliver in Australia.

We have Dollar Generals all over here. I love it. Good place to get some really good buys here and there. Never been to Aldi’s. If they let me keep the cart at 25¢ a pop I’d consider going there.
