It’s a board with the alphabet on it and a pointed thing or a glass that people hold on to, and then it allegedly moves with the help of spirits to say things.
I’ve never tried it myself, but have seen others do it.
I think the participants are either purposedly or subconsciously moving the thingy themself.

I think you have to believe in it for it to work. Even then “work” is a loose term for what I believe happens.
