Did my good deed for the day

There’s this lady who currently lives in my complex who used to live next door to me in my old place. We say hi and talk a little and we’re kind of friends but we don’t hang out. I was coming home from my clinic today and saw her in the hall and I said hi. Then she asked if I knew how to fix a TV. I asked her what was wrong with it and she said the channels won’t change but it wasn’t for her, it was for another resident. I don’t know much about fixing TV sets but I asked if there were any wires exposed.

I told her I would look at it and she then took me to an apartment near the front entrance and knocked on the door, I was surprised to see who answered, it was this lady who I think has problems, I see her all the time but she doesn’t talk; she just looks at me. She’s not staring or glaring but it’s a little unnerving when I say hi and she doesn’t answer and just looks at me.

She showed us in and I looked at her TV, it wasn’t getting any channels so I asked her a few questions about it and I suggested we call the company that makes it and ask them for tech support. So the lady I know called the company and they did some troubleshooting and asked if we had a second antenna to try on it so we went to the woman I knows house and got an extra antenna.

Well, the tech on the phone was kind of weird, she wouldn’t talk and a couple times I thought she had just given up and hung up but after 30 seconds of silence she guided me through the troubleshooting and we were able to fix the TV so it got a dozen channels. The lady thought she was going to need a new TV which she said she couldn’t afford but I was persistent with the tech and got it fixed.

It made me feel good but I really wonder about that lady, I don’t know what her problems are but she got confused when the tech told her to unplug the TV set and wait 5 seconds and plug it back in. She couldn’t figure out how to unplug her TV, I had to do it. And she had no idea how to work her remote, it took about a minute before I could teach her how to change a channel with it. She seemed kind of out of it. I was happy I could help though.
