Did cannabis cause your paranoia or merely exacerbate pre existing paranoia

I have never done cannabis but my brother has. Over the years his paranoia has increased. It would be easy to attribute the paranoia to cannabis but when i factor in a family history of paranoia I am not sure whether it merely exacerbated/triggered an existing/latent problem.
One of my main symptoms is paranoia, drink tended to trigger paranoia in my mother and my sister has voiced, especially when going through a phase of depression, mild paranoid thoughts about work colleagues.
All in all varying degrees of paranoia have been present in all 4 of us. I have not noticed this in my father.

It just made me more paranoid. ■■■■ was already going south.

I ended up doing it only at home and usually masturbating after while high. It was fun but psychotic. Twisted. Oh well, haven’t done it since July of 13 and it resulted in being awake for all night and then tearing an abdomen in the gym. Done with that ■■■■

Just exasperates it

If you use cannabis in the years between 15 and 18 you are
Four times more likely to develop schizophrenia.

Those are the facts

I smoked a lot around my first psychosis and diagnosis age 17-18

My sister also had schizophrenia but I think She mainly dropped acid Which probably doesn’t help either.

i started when i was 18 but i’d already been raped by then so was already paranoid about men in general. it certainly didn’t help my paranoia but it wasn’t that which set it off. i’m glad i gave up though. i have my detractors to thank for that. when i started hearing voices i gave up to see if it was drug induced psychosis or not. the voices remained but i never went back to it apart from the odd occasion. i don’t actually like it anymore tbh.

cannabis just makes it worse. I was already having a hard time when I was young.

pot did NOT cause my Sz, but it sure did make the paranoia and the confusion worse.
