Did anyone see any of the films

Nominated for best picture at the Oscars this year?

Nightmare Alley
Don’t Look Up
Dune
Drive My Car
Belfast
Licorice Pizza
The Power of the Dog
CODA
West Side Story (2021)
King Richard

I didn’t see any of them, but I did watch Summer of Soul, which won best documentary feature. It was good.

Watched
Don’t look up and Dune
I liked it,
but I felt the movie was long.

I saw Dune which was the first time in well over a decade I’d been to the movies. It was good and worth seeing in the cinema but as someone who has read the book a million times it was passable.

Only saw Dune. Was basically a long slow setup for the sequel, I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would.

Whenever the Oscars nominate pictures they are most often films about protagonists struggling against poverty or discrimination. It’s like the only category of movie they even consider. Spider-Man outsold every movie on that list and they don’t even take it seriously.
