Diazepam Use

I am prescribed 10mg of Diazepam a day, which I take 5mg in the morning and 5mg at lunchtime

The pdoc gave me permission to take up to 20mg a day, and I feel I am now becoming dependent on a higher dose again, but my anxiety is making me feel sick.

Now I have disconnected myself from services, the primary care physician will no way entertain prescribing me the higher amount, as the pdoc never communicated this PRN change

I can feel craving to take another, but if I resist I feel so anxious.

Don’t know what to do, I am becoming reliant on it again

I might get flagged for this, but if your liver can handle it, a small amount of alcohol could have a similar calming effect as benzos. But don’t take them together.

I used to take benzos daily, but luckily my anxiety went when I stopped taking Aps.

The Ap’s have not solved it for me

I got diagnosed with GAD a few months back, but I have been taking Pregabalin since March

The doctor said the Pregabalin will mean I can drop benzos, but this has not happened.

I was on 30mg Diazepam for about a year, and it took months to get down to 10mg.

Don’t want to go backwards with it

The alcohol thing is a good suggestion, but I am a mega lightweight these days, and can’t do it - especially if I am at work and need something to take!

Yeah, alcohol is a bad idea if you are working. One of my flatmates drinks a bottle of port wine a day. He’s 60, and his liver must be damaged by now.

I like the idea of drinking whisky with ice like in a lot of movies, but alcohol tastes gross.

When I was 16 the GP was very concerned about my liver, and he got me to stop drinking, and after about a year after giving up binge drinking, it recovered back to normal levels.

Defo don’t drink if you had alcoholism in the past.

Some people stay on benzos for years even though people build a tolerance to them after a few months.

Do you smoke?

If not maybe try a vape.

I find vaping quite therapeutic.

I smoke a lot.

It’s the last thing I do that’s bad for me, and I am not willing to give it up anytime soon

I have given up so much over the years, that I think the smokes can slide
