Saw psychiatrist yesterday. He agreed it appeared I’m on the schizophrenia spectrum, but he noted that i have an atypical presentation, so he wasn’t sure what name to give it quite yet… Treatment is the same… Took first dose of abilify 3ish hours ago… Feels strange, can’t really describe it…
Basically everything went as i expected it, except no certain name yet…so i guess I’m diagnosed-ish now

They’ll probably say sczhioaffective. But what are your symptoms.
I expect schizoaffective to be the diagnosis… Meds started todayvwork amazingly (won’t repeat here what is already in the thread “how do meds make you feel?”
Symptoms of paranoia with audible, visual and tactile hallucinations, and disorganized speech/thoughts, audible thoughts… For over a year… But i also have depression, so schizoaffective disorder

You mean you weren’t on any AP before you went and saw him? You were amazingly coherent in your posts without the AP i have to say. I’ve read a lot from you and have been interested in how things are going for you. I guess that may be why you have an atypical presentation. Doesn’t matter what name they give you, so long as the treatment you relieve provides you with relief. Good luck with the Aripiprazole - i tried this one and it didn’t work for me, made my mood worse. Keep in touch so we know how your progressing.
No AP until today. Definitely atypical presentation, I agree 100% on that. Pdoc says it might have been because I have previously been diagnosed with an IQ of 150 on top of me being transgender having masked the paranoia (who would think of somebody that’s transgender being paranoid,with the way we get treated…but there is apparently a line in the sand, where it becomes pathological…)
Pdoc also said that i’m the first pt he ever had to walk in saying “I think I am schizophrenic” apparently accurately self-diagnosing isn’t common…
