I’m at some partial hospitalization program and they want me off lithium and on another mood stabilizer. I’ve been okay on lithium so I’m not getting why they want me off of it because it has been a lifesaver.
They haven’t started me on it yet but they mentioned depakote, anyone else take that? I wanna know what’s being put in me.
Maybe lithium toxicity?
Not toxic tho, my last test was .8 and that’s beneath 1.2
And I have had no side effects beyond tremors so I feel it’s good for me
I’m on Depakote now and been on it for years.
It’s a powerful mood stabilizer, very effective against mania and mixed episodes.
You need blood tests with it and liver tests.
Expect to gain a lot of weight.
It’s been a lifesaver for me.
If it doesnt make sense try getting a second opinion or you could ask. That’s what I do sometimes. Doctors don’t always make the best decisions so it’s always good to be an advocate for yourself. Good luck.
