Takes about 4 weeks at least for the meds and your body to adjust.
I remember a tdoc saying to me once. It takes time to get to know you on the meds. .
You’ are still you but with less symptoms. Manias great for getting things done but often comes the crash at the end. Leaving you crippled, unproductive and back to trying to get up again.
Stable or even keel is better in the long run and less of unpredictable moods.
Hi J - Out of all of the major mood stabilizers that I was on over the years, I would have to say that Depakote was my favorite - it stabilized my moods like no other mood stabilizer could.
It is a calming mood stabilizer, so it does tend to make you tired, especially in the start of treatment - it took me a couple of months to get used to, but for me personally , it was a very effective smooth med.
Good luck with it J - and it does take a bit of time to get used to the side effects, but as a mood stabilizer, it can be very effective
