My pdoc added Depakote ER 500mg, twice a day to my medication regimen.
I’m also on Clozaril.
May I ask, besides weight gain, what I can expect?
What is has helped you with? or you’ve heard it helps with.
I’m diagnosed schizoaffective.

Well if you have constant running thoughts and find yourself either hyper happy or really depressed it will stabilize your mood swings, make you less angry and relaxed as it works GABA receptors. I quit it because it affected my cognition

I’ve been on Depakote for decades.
It’s a good med to help with mood stabilization.
But be careful it’s a big weight gaining medication and it can make you lethargic.
I too am on 1000mg
It’s better for mania but it helps with depression some as well.

Oh yeah you need to have special blood tests done that check for Depakote levels in your system.
It’s also very hard on the liver, so get liver function tests done as well.
