Demeter, Goddess of the Harvest

I had a dream about Persephone,
robbed from her mother Demeter by Hades;
'twas like a case of custody of sorts,
Persephone’s time split for half a year
with Hades in the winter, Mum in spring.

This myth explains why seasons fluctuate
from vital spring to winter moribund
and back again with moods of Demeter
upon privation of her lovely daughter
replaced by joy on seeing her again.

Thanks! It’s ancient Greek. Persephone had to go live with Hades in the Underworld for half of the year, hence the winter cold, etc.

I took a mythology course and studied Persephone and Demeter.

Cool. Hope I got it right. Wish I’d taken a folklore class I saw offered at Uni long ago.
