Delusions vs false beliefs

I have suffered from delusions on a regular basis, but last time I saw my psychiatrist, the useless one, not the helpful ones, he told me that I had false beliefs not delusions. I know I have delusions, because my reality changes to fit them, where as false beliefs are at odds with reality. Reality is a dream that can either be joyous or a nightmare, a gentle gondola ride or a rollercoaster, there are infinite inbetween states that one can achieve. Thank you.

delusion

  1. an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument, typically a symptom of mental disorder.

“the delusion of being watched”

FALSE BELIEF (noun) The noun FALSE BELIEF has 1 sense: 1. a misconception resulting from incorrect reasoning

Thank you lead, that just confirms what I am saying. I have delusions because my perceptions of reality are not accepted by society at large, I don’t have false beliefs because my perceptions of reality do not contradict society at large. Thank you once again.

I dunno man, I think you’re a sympathetic character. I also think we’re splitting hairs. I just think of it as an “Unshakeable False Belief”. And I know it’s not real; but it’s always there. A great therapist told me I have a “Soft Delusion” a term I liked… but I’m not sure if it’s universal.
