Delusion in the post-truth era

Without entering into politics, what are you guys opinions on the relevance of the abandonment of the notion of truth for psychotic mental health? Would you say it liberates us from oppressing thought police that designates delusions as wrong beliefs? Such that we can be our more authentic selves? Or is the postmodern affliction a disaster to mental health by taking away the criterion that validates the suffering of the deluded?

I think it’s a horrible idea. It will keep people in psychosis. A delusion should never be validated.

Psychotics fabricate their own worldviews. They tend to make stuff up and believe it wholly. Some of the delusions are persistent and follow a kind of logic though, that’s where it gets metaphysical and spooky. But the stupid stuff like “I am a 10,000 year old alien from Pluto” or “I control world affairs with my mind” is just dumb.

You can hold on to delusions like that but it won’t make you any more functional. Just pull you further into a self-made hell of sorts.

Yes its horrible, we would all be non functional at all. Meds make it better but the environment reality also makes it better. If the environment is only based on psychosis ppl will go crazy even with meds. Psychosis should not be accepted, making it a norm will just make so much ppl psychotic regardless of meds. Its hell.

Go more in depth about what your second sentence means.

Any aspect of schizophrenia that psychologically modifies your pre-SZ, healthy state can be regarded as a delusion. The optimal functioning state is getting healthy enough to surpass those delusions and become normal. A little bit of delusion will persist, but you’ll be in charge of your destiny as opposed to feeling like chaos is.

having part of your brain still asleep when you seem wide awake can lead to some ups and downs mostly insight over time that if theres nobody there or other people around you are’nt hearing what your hearing you know its probably all in your head as for the thought police go they should know better before they start making assumptions based on a persons un heathy mind im also bi-polar so im maic for a while and then i crah i almost died during my last depresion lost all my muscle cuz i was inactive lost so much weigt but im slowly gaining it back but im trying my best to stay healthy while i can before another crash.
