A reply from one of the researchers.

Dear Tim,

Yes, we are doing certain studies to test Immunocal for human cognition problems.

Generally researchers don’t have a lot of confidence in “mouse models” of schizophrenia - since we really don’t have a good idea of what is going on in the brain when someone develops schizophrenia. So - this type of mouse-based research generally doesn’t have a ton of value. More valuable are independent human-based, 3rd party clinical studies that are double blind and placebo controlled.

So this post got me to do a little research on glutathione. This Immunocal contains precursors to glutathione. And I found out that’s why I take N-acetylcysteine because its precursor too.

I thought why not just take glutathione? So I bought some and then figured out that glutathione doesn’t cross the blood-brain barrier. Oh well.

But then I found out that alpha lipoic acid recycles glutathione in the brain! So thanks for this post, it got me to add alpha lipoic acid to my daily regimen.:slightly_smiling_face:

I have two tubs of this stuff that I’m not using I might start taking it every morning now to see if it helps with my symptoms.

Please let us know if you notice any effects.

I took it this morning and I noticed increased mood and less stress / negative symptoms.

It’s only one day though so it could just be a coincidence I’ll keep u guys updated if it’s consistent.

I looked at the prices online and brand name Immunocal is pretty expensive.

Folks - its mouse-based data with lots of issues - don’t take it too seriously. The percent of mouse-oriented treatments that eventually prove to be helpful with humans is probably less than 1/10th of 1% - so its about 99.9% likely that you’re wasting money.

I think you can make your own whey protein at home possibly with raw milk and probarbly more effective than processed immunocal

It’s easy to get cheap whey protein, but Immunocal is high cysteine.
