Could mitochondria be the key to a healthy brain?

In a word, no, I don’t think it is the key

Thousands of things working in concert are the key to a healthy brain. Correct levels of neurotransmitters, oxygen, genetics, and yes, possibly mitochondria and the things it does. If anything in your brain is off your brain won’t be healthy, you can’t just say that mitochondria is the key.

Not sure how the idea that we have “wrong levels” of neurotransmitters got propagated. Neutransmitter levels are regulated by homeostasis. Psychiatric disorders can be associated with neurotransmitter levels, but neurotransmitter levels are not the cause of psychiatric disorders.
