Coronavirus and psych wards

Has this coronavirus changed how your psych ward is operating? My local psych ward has been closed since March.

:astonished: That’s pretty dramatic.

@mjseu. Where would folks go if they needed hospitalization?

Where I’m at the only thing that’s changed is no groups and the tables are more spread out.

Also no visitors but nobody visits me in the hospital anyways

I do not know where people might go if they needed hospitalization. The psych ward is closed at least until the end of this year. There is more focus on the outpatient care and the acute psych services have expanded their operation with additional psych people. There are also more home visits if a person needs this. Currently there is a psychiatrist vacancy at the psych ward, but it has been difficult to fill this position.

I am not able to go to pdoc since march because train and buses all closed. Cities are in lockdown.

Here, they moved the psych ward at the general hospital in town to a remote psych hospital to make extra beds for covid patients (which are few for now).

I had to spend a week in isolation and wait for swop results back. All the care staff are wearing gloves and masks. They are only taking the most seriously ill people. Only got released on Wednesday.
