2 confirmed cases in the uk. Can’t take time off work now I hope it doesn’t spread.
I reckon I am a goner when I get it, I always get so ill when I get the flu.
Don’t say that, you will fight it if you get it. You are strong.
I heard rumors that this will only last a few months.
Edit: I guess it’s too early to tell. Infected numbers are rising way faster than with SARS, which lasted 6 months roughly, so this could be a doozy…
It has a low mortality rate, but affects some people a lot worse than others. Strength isn’t important. If you are not old, sick, or a child, it is mostly down to luck. But you’re also not very likely to die from it.
A case confirmed in my home town
Amazing in this modern world how things spread quickly. We’ve a few cases over here in Australia already but we have a pretty healthy tie to China these days with students and business peeps. I’m amazed it’s gotten to the UK already. That just shows you how small the world really is…
Virus’ and bacteria are the big threat to our population. Sure we have antibiotics but resistant strains are problematic and common especially in modern hospitals. Virus’ are interesting and capable of a lot of damage. Not trying to add to your paranoia but a reason we breed sexually is to breed different genes into our population for our biggest threat. That biggest threat isn’t an animal. It’s small little things like bacteria and a strange little thing like a virus.
My step dad is supposed to be going to that hospital for tests this morning.
I will have to wait till he wakes up to see if it has been cancelled or if he chooses to go.
If an A&E worker has it, it must have been transmitted to the local population here too
A little lemon and some tortilla chips and salsa and you’ll be fine.
I ignored SARS and the bird flu effectively, I’ll use the same strategy with this disease.
The news said that the 60% of population will get infected
You won’t get it, my friend. This infection will go down in a couple months.
Yikes! We have 27 cases here in Korea.
I have a higher chance of complications due to having a physical illness (welp) so the church in my area told all sick and chronically ill people to not to come to church. I’m not going anywhere for a couple months unless absolutely necessary.
For some reason I’m scared about this now. I’m scared to go to crowded places.
OH ALSO. People.
If you see a person who is of Asian decent, please don’t call us out for “having the virus” in your country. Not everyone is Chinese, and many people who are Asian have never been to China. If they are of Chinese decent, they probably have never been born there or raised in your country.
So please do not express xenophobia and treat everyone kindly. Love you guys!
I hope it does not spread here, every time I get a cold or flu I get pneumonia. Last time was about 15 years ago and took 13 weeks to recover, I doubt I will get through the next round
Just seen this on the news. Im gonna ask my sister - she works there as a nurse. Hope she dont bring it near me!
The flu is a lot more deadly anyhow
Our news station in Madison said alcohol can kill the virus, which is funny. Wisconsin as you know is the “hold my beer and watch this” state. My kids were joking about it, and unfortunately it’d take several bottles of hard liquor to kill it off, so even though I can legally take my kids to the bar and drink with them with my ID and their birth certificates, I’m not gonna give 'em alcohol poisoning to kill the virus. We only have 1 case in the state anyway, up in Milwaukee, a college kid. She’s doing ok, gonna survive, she’s got 6 days left of quarantine since her fever broke and she’s getting better.
The flu kills like 2,000 people every year. The coronavirus so far killed about 1,110 people.
