The submariner would be a dream watch for me. Super classic. A sub on a nato strap is pimp af. If I had the money I really like the seiko sla models especially the 055. Idk maybe someday. Sorry about your dad. Im kinda hunting for a watch right now. Idk I might just keep the citizen diver and save money. I don’t really need a “perfectly” curated collection. Maybe I could save for something kinda more premium.

Is it just the bezel insert or the bezel? It’s probably not cheap maybe a couple hundred for the bezel insert.
I’m not sure what it’s called but it’s the blue part that surrounds the dial

The bezel is the piece that spins. The bezel insert is the colored piece of aluminum or ceramic pressed into it. Here’s a bezel insert.
I saw one insert for $200 on eBay. They’re listed around $300. Marlin Brandon’s character in apocalypse now wore a Rolex gmt without a bezel. I think it was his own watch. They weren’t sure about a soldier wearing a Rolex but it worked I guess especially without the bezel. It kinda became a style after that or something that people started replicating.

Here’s my captain Willard. It was named after Martin sheen’s character in that movie. This is a 2019 or 20 remake of the original seiko 6105 popular with soldiers in Vietnam. Another famous watch from the movie.

I’ve never seen a Rolex without an insert but I think that’s all that’s missing. You can see the teeth so I’m guessing that’s the bezel still on there. That’s an old one. Lots of wear, but that’s not a bad thing in my opinion.
I have 5 mechanical and a g shock. I ordered my nivada grenchen on August 2nd and I’m still waiting on it so that’ll make 6 and a g shock. This is my collection as it stands now.

Wanted to show you this one from a good angle. They all look better from good angles. I must’ve been timing something cause my bezel isn’t aligned. But a watchmaker could polish and service your watch. Basically make it look new. The dial won’t but having a naturally worn or vintage dial is the envy of many. I looked at it closer the dials actually not bad. Maybe some patina on the date wheel. if it runs good you could just go for the insert if that’s all that’s missing. Yeah $300 is a lot. You could get a non oem one for probably $50.
I think the Casio calculator watch is very cool
I currently have 5 watches. I’m thinking about getting a new one but it costs $1,000 which is a bit steep
