I believe that the more controlled environment around us who have sz is less likely it is to have triggers that cause paranoia which reduces stress and any triggers to sz delusions.
Yeah I’m very careful about the environments I put myself in. I still can’t handle stress very well. Public places like grocery stores or food joints. Bars put me off sometimes.
Thats why i’ve been in my apartment aside from my bike ride and grocery shopping at 3 am for maybe 15 yrs or so.
I think I suffer from some low level claustrophobia because I always feel better outside.
I can see what’s around me… I trust trees and parks. I also like being in the middle of the cove on my surfboard…
I can see for miles and I’m far away from city noise and congestion. That helps me calm down… never fails.
I agree. I calm, controlled environment reduces stress which reduces the severity of our illness. I really go out of my way to reduce stress. I helps a lot.
Yes, a controlled quiet environment does help control paranoia. It’s possible to tip things too far and become rather agoraphobic, however. I recommend brief trips outside your comfort zone from time to time to remain connected to society, if symptoms allow.
I feel like for me it wouldn’t be possible to live in an environment that controlled. I would have to have absolutely no access to any sort of media, tv, movies, music, etc. There would always be people around and everything would have to be well lit. I dunno it wouldn’t be much of a life, stuck in a bubble like that. Safe maybe, but dull.
I see what you’re trying to say though.
I’d like to live on a ranch in the middle of nowhere, as all my neighbors are triggers.
