This article proposes the idea drinking coffee regularly lowers the odds of dementia later in life. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/06/06/this-is-your-brain-on-coffee/?_r=0
Sure - I’ve heard that. For the average person that may be true. But people who suffer from psychosis also very commonly have anxiety disorders and coffee is know to make that worse… so I’d keep that in mind.
I admit ably drink to much of it. He is right. Psychosis can be linked to it. Though it does have health benefits on a physical level studies have shown.
It would be interesting to know if decaffeinated coffee was also providing benefits. Its the caffiene that increases issues with anxiety - so if Decaf works, go for it.
Ironically a couple cups of decaf have the ever slightest amount of caffeine in it I was told. They recommend it to regular coffee and sometimes its even doctor ordered. I certainly do have to go outside for a cigarette less when I drink decaf.
Don’t know if it proves it but in moderatiion , its supposed to , I’ve heard of other benefits like lowering the risk for type 2 diabetes , lowering the risk for gallstones and gall bladder problems , for me though too much gives me tactile sympthoms , too much is also said to reduce the effectiveness of AP meds. Its a stimulant so gotta watch it.
When I was at school I found that being high on coffee made it nearly impossible for me to do math. I’ve also heard that people who drink coffee hold on to their sex drive later in life. I’m skeptical about all those claims.
I have cut down on coffee a lot. Used to drink 15 cups a day. Down to 3 or 4. I however have increased my tea intake so go figure.
