Clozaril and Pregnancy

Hello,

My fiance and I were thinking about having a baby but I am very worried that Clozapine (Clozaril) will harm the baby (birth defects, learning disability). Has anyone on this medication or similar had any problems with pregnancy or post pregnancy? did you have to stop the med until birth or are there alternatives to take while pregnant?

Thank you

@valis PLEASE do not try to get pregnant on these meds. It does not work for the baby and from what I have read, the baby is born prematurely in most cases and has extreme withdrawal from med other than some extreme cases of deformation etc.

Please talk with your doctor first and see his advise.

I think you need to stop the med for the first 3 months
than take low dose for the second phase then stop it completely for the last 3 months unless you are extremely psychotic. This is someone with experience told me but people talk you know. Please check with your doctor.

I also read someone got pregnant and had a lovely healthy baby on Latuda only. I do not know about Clozaril at all and do not trust google.

I took meds with my first child and she has issues (mental, emotional) No meds with my son and so far he is thriving, just keeping my fingers crossed as he moves into his late teens.
