Before prescribing me Clozapine Dr suggested trying Olanzapine at 20+mg as last time I was still psychotic on 15mg + 50mg Seroquel. Is Clozapine better? I remember on Olanzapine my negative symptoms were better than now but I ate a lot and was over 300lb. Now on 6mg Risperdal I am 285lb eventhough my negative symptoms are worse and I stay in bed 24/7.

I am trying to avoid the weekly blood tests of Clozapine.

I was told the weekly blood tests were temporary, once they establish, if they establish, things are fine, then it jumps to once a month. Still kind of a pain in the butt but not nearly as bad as every week.
I’m not a fan of olanzapine, but if it works for you go with it. I was on 40 mg for a decade and half so 20+mg is possible, but I paid a heavy price with my physical health.

Yea I am afraid of that, studies say Olanzapine causes 3x more weight gain than Clozapine. Also I am afraid of being psychotic even on 20+mg Olanzapine. I think for Clozapine blood tests my Dr said weekly for 6 months, every 2 weeks for 6 months then once a month forever.

I was on 15mg olanzapine and slept 12 hours each night and was still tired and lethargic during the day, so I don’t think it would be too helpful for negatives and getting up and doing ■■■■.

I was on 30 mg zyprexa for a couple of years. No side effects but did nothing against my voices. Clozapine wasn’t great for me either. On 200 mg I slept 16 hours a day. However, everyone has a different story. Maybe you’ll get lucky and hit the jackpot.

I have been on olanzapine but didnt work for me.
Clozapine is one of the best meds

yea same for me… the clozapine is great… but i take it in combo with the risperdal shot.

I take clozapine. Not super happy about side effects but it works. I get bloodwork once a month now. Gets me out of the house lol.
