Cheque Day

I thought disability paid out today, but it’s actually next week. It’s always second last week in the month, but apparently they’re counting the half week as a full week.

I’m going to buy a jug of milk and some hotdogs and hopefully make it last another week.

Oooops!!!

Are you in Canada? I need to apply for disability next month, Dr said I can receive between 600-800$/month but I know 2 szics who receive 1000-1200$/month, I dont understand why. Does it work according to case severity?

It’ll be different depending on what province you’re in, and whether you’re applying for provincial disability or federal CPP-D

I’m in British Columbia, so we get ~375$ for a housing allowance and ~900$ in assistance (rates just went up, it used to be lower)

Plus BC has something called Plan G, where all psych meds are covered, so I don’t pay anything at the pharmacy (which is huge)

In Ontario I think it depends on your living expenses, special diet allowance, etc… I’m not totally sure, but I don’t think everyone gets the same amount, I think it ranges between about 700-1100. All my drugs are covered but there are some, like sublingual lorazepam that cost money. There is also dental coverage, 1 appointment/year allowed. The optometrist is covered too but I have to pay for one specific test that isn’t covered. If you get a job they give a $100/month bonus for working. But if you make over $200/month working they start reducing your benefits by half of whatever you made over $200.

You guys are so lucky. Over where I live, you are on your own aside from some insurance plans, government savings plans and a government net where they usually dispense $1000+ per claim for medical bills.

@ArcSaber I definitely have a lot of privilege living here

You need to train your army of beloved possums to sneak you out a package of hotdogs.
