Car got totaled. Life has been hectic

I was hit and run on a highway by a moving truck. They found him on a toll camera nearby so it’s all figured out but I also just don’t have a car until my payout which is estimated to be 3-4 weeks :frowning:

After one wreck that was my fault and one stolen truck that was wrecked, I learned to buy the rental vehicle option on my car insurance… haven’t needed it yet but it’s there if I do.

Yep… I learned the hard way here to pay the extra for car replacement and rental coverage on your insurance. Even gap coverage helps if you can’t afford car replacement  I didn’t expect any of this to happen because I’m an extremely safe driver but this further reinforces the fact that not everyone else is.

My insurance policy doesn’t include rental coverage so I’m trying to get my insurance to go through the at-fault party’s insurance to cover a rental as part of compensation since I can’t work without a vehicle. I should get one but it’s a corporate moving company’s insurance… sometimes they take their sweet ass time with this stuff

That happened to me with a non-trucker just ordinary insurance. The car at faults insurance covered rental pretty quickly.

Hope they try to get you a car asap - we had to use the rental for a month. They took so long to fix my car.

Is it an option to rent yourself and keep receipts? Just make sure you rent something equal to or less than what you were driving and they should cover you. Don’t rent a Lambo and expect them to foot the bill for it.

Glad you’re okay.

This is good. I’m so glad you’re ok! And I’m glad they found out who the driver was. Can you rideshare for now to get to work?

Car wrecks are hell. I’m so glad you’re ok.

No because it isn’t getting to work. It’s that I need to be able to drive to be able to work. I do outpatient mental health work and I travel all over the state in a single day and am responsible for providing transportation for my clients

Oh wow. That’s really terrible that you literally can’t work. What will you do without the money?!
