Cannabis Use when you have Schizophrenia - the Negative Problems and Impacts

Hey, and you are pretty right though. I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia when I was 16. I began smoking pot with everyone else at around age 21, I smoked my first joint at 21, my first cigarette at 18, my first alcohol at 21. I was in “Pot State” Potomac College is known for its zero tolerance but everyone there at least smoked pot, just not on campus. lol.

Since the age of 21, let’s see what changed? I began taking ADHD medication and smoking weed. My diagnosis was later changed to Bipolar 1 and ADHD. The psychosis has been replaced with “mania” I am calmer and more rational, I can drive very well for only been driving 2 years. So in my personal experience, Marijuana led to the reduction of symptoms and psychosis–contrary to what everyone says.

I don’t medicate with weed. I used to smoke it frequently and have cut back since then. I never craved it like an addiction. I would still crave cigarettes more than weed, and I’m trying to cut back on cigarettes. Since smoking weed: I made a vow to God on the passing of my uncle who died of an overdose–I heard a voice demand a promise that I would never try to kill myself, or attempt suicide. The voice also said, Oh Gabrielle if you only knew your own strength.

That voice came before I lost two other people to overdoses. My uncle died of an overdose. He had a stroke at a party and no one called the ambulance. He was there for about three days in a coma. I think it was my uncle who I heard in my head as I called out to God for an answer.

so weed has helped me more than hurt me. It’s the prescription opiates and other things that hurt people.

I support federal legalization of weed. It should be used as medicine for some people.
