I looked it up. In Belgium the average doctor earns 7000€/month (before tax).
How are the prices in Belgium? I went to Germany and everything was cheap there compared to the Netherlands. I got 1l of milk for like 0.25€.
The ER is the primary here in my province because a bunch of doctors fled to the US to get paid more. Or other provinces where they are treated better. It took me over a year to find my current family doctor and I’m in the minority. You can wait up to three years for a new GP now.
I’m under the impression that groceries are more expensive than in the neighboring countries.
Healthcare and Health Insurance is cheap.
Education is cheap.
Banks have good services for affordable prices.
There is 21% VAT.
Taxes are very high.
The disabled get money to go on holiday.
Here tax on products is 15% but what I find too high here is income tax especially if your income is high.
If you make 50k you pay like 13k in taxes.
If you make 250k you pay like 110k in taxes.
Everything you earn here above 41K€ is in the highest tax bracket of 50%!
You do have deductions…
And some people create a firm to pay less tax.
I saw on TV that some people here evade taxes by using bank accounts in countries where tax is very low like poor countries. Idk how it works but its illegal.
Evasion of taxes is as old as the street.
I will try to confront that in my next job.
Good luck with your new job!
I’m starting September 1st, but they are being cold about my accommodations I requested because of disability.
We’ll see.
Wow @Aziz I didn’t know Canada had such problems with pdocs! Here in South Africa if one wants to see pdoc privately, one can just make appt and wait about a month or two, or less. And if one wants to see a public pdoc, go to primary community clinic or get into hospital system and go to outpatients (where I am going now).
I think it cancels out when I had to pay $10000 year for my insurance from work.
