Can u take seriquel with risperidone

Hi, just a quick question. I’m having trouble sleeping. Has anyone taken or know if you can take seriquel while being on risperidone consta? I’m gonna ask the doctor for some seriquel for sleep. Thanks.

I’m almost positive that you can mix risperidone and seroquel together.
As long as the Seroquel is not too high of a dose, I don’t see why not.
Ask your pdoc, see what they think.

yeap  my pdoc gave me Seroquel in addition to my Zyprexa in order to sleep better but me I feel too much the effects of Seroquel. its another ap at the end and I dont want this. but I am too sensible on meds, I feel everything wow. dont worry, take it if you need it. I know a lot of people who take Seroquel in plus of their trt in order to sleep better  .

Thanks anna , much appreciate it.

Yeah, seroquel is very commonly prescribed at low doses to act as a sleep aid in conjunction w another antipsychotic. The first psychiatrist I saw wanted to prescribe me Abilify and seroquel and I freaked out and was upset that she wanted me on two different APs because I didn’t understand. She was a bad pdoc and did not explain this to me, I learned it myself later on.

I was prescribed risperdone and seroquel at the same time, 400 or 600mg seroquel and 2mg risperdone, slowly lowering the seroquel as i adjusted to the risperdone as my main AP.

Risperdone didnt end up working well for me so switched to invega now which has been a god send. Still get delusions and hallucinations (mostly mild) but it took the debilitating paranoia away within a few weeks and really havent seen it since. Been about 1 year now. Just invega, seroquel, and an AD that is supposed to help with ocd i just started, forget the name tho.

But is seriquel any good for schizophrenia, besides sleep. And thanks reggie for replying also.

I find my seroquel highly sedating and weight gaining then zyprexa…!!! …!!!

Yeah. Seroquel at higher doses functions as an antipsychotic. (It’s like a sleep aid at low dose, an anti-anxiety/antidepressant at mid dose and AP at high, something weird like that) But it’s rare to be placed on two different antipsychotics at once due to strong health risks, so typically only those w treatment resistant sz may be put on two at once.

Yes you can. I do. I take Risperdal Consta with Seroquel and Geodon. All three together. Works great for me for years now. I have a lot of other coping skills that I use also though.
