I don’t know why but I’m more comfortable in cool weather. I just mowed the lawn. It’s only 80F, and sunny. By half way through I started feeling nauseous and I turned beat red everywhere. Why can’t I handle heat?!?!?!
IDK but it might be humidity being high where you are. Take a cool shower and drink some water. Take a break too.
Good thinking. Maybe it’s humidity
I hate hot weather.
@roxanna, you were right. The RealFeel is 95F
I hate when its too humid.
Even in the apartment when someone starts boiling something the feeling it gives you is awful.
Like your whole body starts to bloat up on top of feeling sweaty.
Its worse for us in Texas though. High temperatures are the norm and when the planet is getting hotter? We’re praying for rain and cloudy days.
I’m in Texas too. It’s trying to rain now.
I could never live in Texas. It’s way too hot there! I’m impressed that you can handle it
It could be the meds.
APs can cause heat stroke or exhaustion in hot weather.
Be careful @LilyoftheValley.
My brother is worse but he’s keeping his bills down with homemade cooling devices.
A simple styrofoam chest with ice and fans and a smaller fan circulating air.
It feels horrible when you step inside because he doesn’t use the a/c.
But the bill is only like 40 dollars or so.
My apartment is cooler but we use a/c.
Thinking we are going to set up a homemade cooling device ourselves to cut back on the bills.
I never knew that. I’ll try to be careful. Thanks for letting me know
Smart thinking @Genbu
i used to love summer. when i worked on the golf course, i could leave on my green fleece and work in 90 degree heat. now things have changed and i get uncomfortable in it, i don’t know why. i spent alot of time outside growing up and would play basketball in the heat hours a day.
things change i guess, i have put on an extra 10 pounds.
and another thing, our mild winters don’t bother me anymore as much. im comfortable down to 20 degree weather with a coat and beanie on.
Ever since I started APs I cannot work outside in the hot weather. I get beet red and start shaking. Live in Minnesota but our summers can feel brutal especially in July.
When working outside I drink lots of water and take many breaks in the shade followed by a cooling shower.
@Lifer, I think the APs are causing it. I just read up on it.
that’s probably it then. another side effect i have and didn’t realize i had.
Taking breaks in the shade is a good idea.
Yea many antipsychotics impair your ability to dissipate heat. It was writted on a paper on side effects that came with my antipsychotic the first time I was prescribed it.
the other day I felt super hot, was sweating, red in the face, which was weird because my thermostat said it was only 70F in my apartment. I took a shower and laid in bed, pointed a box fan at myself, and after about 30 minutes i felt normal
@falcon09, that’s what hot flashes are like for me.
