Can sz make you a bad person?

thats true. I think sociopathy is a personality type disorder tho, is a sort of mental illness. People with schizophrenia can be mistaken for having sociopathy because our perceptions are imbalanced. But I know for real I am very capable of experiencing empathy and sadness, and I have high awareness. Sometimes reality itself can be emotionally painful…but even in psychosis or schizophrenia I can see some elements of it that weren’t completely bad, like creativity or seeing the world differently itself isnt necessarily bad. People who see colors or taste shapes are not demonized, synesthesia isnt exactly the same but maybe it is in the sense that people with schizophrenia are hard-wired to see perceive things a bit differently…

I know that science is trying to figure out what exactly makes people with schizophrenia unique, or how we see the world…I would like to know what makes us so different, and if like with Autism there was a way to find resources and tools to help people succeed who have schizophrenia.

Some people with Autism also they have emotional flatness and depending on the spectrum or degree they feel things differently too right, and maybe there are ways we can work together to learn to accomodate people with neurological differences.

Hmm. . .

Perhaps More So, Pushed Into The Catalyst Of Confusion By Meaningless Forces Of Jealousy?.

I Will Never Understand It To Be Honest.

The System Can Feel Strange. . .

:pensive:

Let’s say it this way. Schizophrenia can make it difficult to keep from giving in to your bad side.

Well lemme ask you this:

What constitutes a bad person?

Imma say SZ does not make one a bad person.

Selfish in the face of self-preservation, maybe.

But not bad.

I think that during psychosis, the intent of malice is missing-- it’s marked purely by actions driven by some warped logic-center. It could be voices, visions, etc.

Now, for the sake of debate:

What about the people that make the news?

I dunno about them. Personally, I think most of them don’t hear shiit, and that’s just a tactic the defense uses to get these people lesser sentences.

Just my two cents :upside_down_face:.

Alot of things make you a bad person to somebody. But, oh well, we have to move on and try our best. Im just looking for some stability whatever dx I have. Some self respect. Obviously Ill never have the accomplishments I could have had if id been stable person. Schizophrenia can also have the effect of making everyone around you worse people who mistreat you due to stigma. Like, we chose all this, when a doctor did.

I don’t know if it makes you a bad person or not but it can certainly make you hostile towards people that don’t deserve it. If you think those people are poisoning you or trying to control your mind or draining your life energy or whatever the case may be, you are likely to be hostile towards them even though they don’t deserve it. I think sz can cause you to do a lot of bad things because you perceive things incorrectly and therefore may not have the appropriate reactions. You can try to do a lot of drastic things when you incorrectly think your life or wellbeing is threatened.

Well said.

I’ll go a step further and say that although we might do these things, it’s all done without malice. Most of us have done some pretty jacked up shiit all in the name of survival.

Depends who is doing the judging.

Good and Bad are just opinions. It is not possible for a person to be all good, or all bad.

For example, a cat catches a rat and eats it. The cat’s owner might be happy about this because she doesn’t like rats. The neighbours child might be unhappy about this because it was her pet rat which had escaped. So is the cat good or bad?

Objectively the cat is neither good nor bad. Subjectively the cat is both good and bad at the same time. The same is true for humans.

So the answer is that SZ can make you more or less good and bad, depending on how it changes the opinions of the people around you. But SZ cannot make you a bad person, objectively.

Thing is off meds I attacked and hurt ppl with my words, insults. My best friend left me, he told me to get back on my meds so I insulted him.

I even hurt family physically.

You did a bad thing, but that is not the whole of you. That is one action in trillions. Perhaps that action changed people’s opinions of you, to be more negative. But the regret you now feel might motivate you to become a better person… Even that one action could branch into multiple results, both positive and negative.

You’re never going to reach a state of absolute badness, because you can’t help but do something good, even if it is by accident. Similarly, you can’t ever be absolutely good.
