Does anybody know about this?
It depends on your state. My state has a program that will pay for schooling for folks with disabilities, but they highly prioritize physical disabilities over mental ones. My friend broke her spine and they paid for her to get a degree. I went to them and they told me they would get me a job coach to work sub-minimum wage at a manual labor job. The discrimination is real.
I sent an email to the administrator but got no reply.
Must I be unlucky for life;?;
I dont know of any programs.
I was thinking if you are an adult student and your income is low because you only get ssi, maybe you would qualify for grants.
In the UK you get grants for learning. Not sure about what the situation is where you are.
I got a lot of money to help me study in 2010 as my income was so low.
I live in California USA
In Santa Cruz county
I make just about 900$ a month through ssi .
I wish I can go to school
I just don’t understand how I would pay for it …
I wish schooling was free
Then I can get myself an education…
What about vocational rehabilitation?
I don’t know. I have an associates degree, a bachelors degree and a masters degree and the military paid for them all.
I tried to use vocational rehabilitation with the VA to go to law school and the VA said no. They said I had enough skills to get a job already. So I went and got a job.
But it doesn’t hurt to ask.
The worst they can say is no.
What’s the program called? Like, if I were to look into this, where do I go to talk to someone?
Looks like we are all trying to get a degree !
Look up your local Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. They provide training and sometimes degree help for those with disabilities. Also, there are scholarships out there specific to MI, so look around. And last but certainly not least, if you are on SSI, you should qualify for a decent Pell Grant. Your state may have a grant as well. Good luck!
what?? they didn’t pay for your law degree.
I wish I could’ve got them to step in for my psyd.
VR is paying for my school and im applying for ssdi
What kind of schooling are you getting for free?
Vocational rehab
College, im going to be an art therapist
That’s cool. 678994
I found a free program that I qualify for that would let me get a CDL -A again for free.
But I have doubts if I’d be able to make it through 40 hours a week for 4 weeks of truck driving school.
Two things. First of all when I went back to community college I went through their disabled students services. It was a program which I’ve seen at other colleges. I went to their office which was discreetly located in the back of school. They ended up paying all my registration fees and registering me for class right in the office saving me a trip and a long line in admissions and records. But I still had to pay for units and books.

When I went back to school this last time I have been taking online classes and I went through a disabled student services again. But this time I qualified for a one time grant for about $1500. I applied for financial aid and I qualified for some program. It paid for my classes for a long time but I still had to pay for books.
So those were how I paid for college; disabled students services a grant, and financial aid.
